We come together over food all the time. Family gatherings. Barbecues with friends. We bond over food. Sometimes, we fight over food. We wondered if the power of food and flavor could help bring people back together. If sharing a meal could help heal fractured relationships. Reunite family members who have drifted apart. If talking things out over a dinner could repair friendships that have been left broken.
What you’re about to watch is one of those stories. It’s the true story of a woman who deeply wanted to reunite with a trusted friend. A friend who had literally been her lifeline. It’s also the story of millions of people around the globe who, like the woman in our film, have been forcibly displaced from their home countries, and left with only a few tangible things to connect them to what had been their lives—pictures, a found community of others from their regions, and the tastes they grew up with.
